Input and output devices used:

Inputs: Magnetic sensors, RFID tags.

Outputs: LEDs, Servo motors.

Mapping

RFID tags map to the controling motors' motion. RFID tags locate at the wrist and elbow. Wrist one is to open the shell, the elbow one is to close the shell. Magets map to the switch the LEDs. Left hand side one is for the Red light, and the right hand side is for the Green light.

The physical interaction between the user and the Hermit is achieved by the RFID sensor and tags. The RFID sensor used here is for location based purpose. The RFID reader is collecting the information from the specific part of the human body. The reader is sewed inside the glove by safety pins, and the RFID tags are placed separately into the cuff which can be wore on the wrist and elbow on the other hand. Because the attitude of have a nap is usually bending over the table, people like to rest the head on their overlapping arms. If the user wares the glove with the reader on his/her right hand, when he/she take a nap, the glove will be overlapped his/her left elbow. Therefore, the cuffs are designed for using on the wrist and elbow. The wrist one is for opening the shell, and the elbow one is for closing it.
